a mere 110 square kilometers in size, Bandhavgarh National Park is home to almost
60 tigers.
A wildlife retreat where history and nature meet, Bandhavgarh is too far away
from Kanha. Set amidst the Vindhyan ranges, the park has a series of ridges
running through it. This park was the former hunting preserve of the Maharaja
of Rewa. The terrain is broken, with rocky hill ranges, running roughly east
west, interspersed with grassy swamps and forested valleys.

Day 08: Bandhavgarh - Kanha
We take a drive to Kanha national park. 250kms, about 6 hours drive. From one
world class park to the other is definitely an experience for all the lovers
of the wild.
Situated in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, the picturesque Kanha National
Park was the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling's unforgettable classic Jungle
Book. The romance of the Kanha National Park has not reduced over time-it is
still as beautiful.
If one were to point to the middle of India, chances are he will pick out the
forests of the Banjar and the Halon valley, the two forming the western and
eastern halves of the Kanha Tiger Reserve, which have long been famous for their
wide diversity of wildlife.
The park was created in 1955 by a special law and, since then, it has dedicated
itself in preserving a variety of animal species. Many endangered species have
indeed been saved here. Today Kanha is among the few most scenic and beautiful
wildlife reserves in Asia. This 'Tiger Country' is the ideal home for both predator
and prey.
By far the most striking features of this region are the open grassy meadows,
where sighting blackbuck, swamp deer, sambhar and chital is common. And, if
one can transcend into time, a barefooted Mowgli would perhaps come padding
along the dusty trail, for this is the land of Kipling's Jungle Book.
Day 09: In Kanha
Indian wildlife safari facilitates the sighting of the elusive creatures in
their natural habitat. Excitement of being in an Indian wildlife park is ingenuously
enticing. Wildlife safari helps in encounters with such creatures as the Royal
Bengal Tiger, the Asiatic Lion, the one- horned Indian Rhino and the great Indian
Elephant - a lifetime experience that remain engraved in the memory of each
and every visitor.
One such place that offers the best safaris is the Kanha National park.
Day 10: Kanha - Jabalpur
In the morning the guests still have some time in their kitty as they can venture
into the reserve again and enjoy the wilderness of the jungle. In the afternoon
we take a drive up to Jabalpur, 165kms, about 4 hours drive, to board the train
back to Delhi.
Day 11: Arrive Delhi
The last day of the trip of 11 days comes to an end as the guests are dropped
at the airport as they depart for their respective homes.
